Earl Grey, explained
3 min read · By the Ellara Ceylon team

Earl Grey is black tea scented with oil from the bergamot, a fragrant citrus fruit grown mainly in southern Italy. The name is traditionally linked to Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey, a British Prime Minister in the 1830s.
Why a Ceylon base?
Ceylon black tea is bright and clean with a soft, malty finish. It carries the citrus oil without turning heavy or bitter.
How to brew
Use 1 teaspoon per cup, water just off the boil, and steep for 3 to 4 minutes. Try it plain, with a splash of milk, or with a thin slice of lemon.
